Trembling in concern, Ukrainian resident Rostislav Stepanenko has recalled how he survived devastating shelling in his village, which was caught within the firing line between Russian and Ukrainian forces.
Waving his arms in a state of agitation, he requested Ukrainian troopers if he might safely cross the stays of a destroyed bridge within the village of Ruska Lozova close to the Russian border.
The village, about 11 miles from the frontier and simply north of Ukraine’s second metropolis Kharkiv, was recaptured by Kyiv’s forces in late April after being underneath Russian management for 2 months.

He mentioned a shell struck a neighbour’s home and blew out his house’s home windows.
“I didn’t care if I’d be killed on the way in which (again) or in my home,” he mentioned.
The 53-year-old man joked his career was “making an attempt to remain alive”.
