STUDENTS who’ve made excellent contributions within the York space have been recognised on the Pupil Volunteering Awards.
In 2020/21, greater than 1,000 College of York college students gave over 27,000 hours to volunteering – equating to over £241,000 in the event that they had been paid the minimal wage.

A particular awards ceremony was held on the Guildhall on June 7. The Lord Mayor of York and The Sheriff of York introduced the awards to college students who labored with 16 organisations from throughout the town.
Second 12 months Biology scholar, Jessica Scrimshire, was recognised for her contribution to ‘Transfer the Plenty’, a York primarily based charity that helps susceptible York residents to enhance their wellbeing by way of train.
She stated: “I’ve liked volunteering with Transfer the Plenty and assume it’s such an essential organisation particularly after lockdown to get folks out and strolling.”
