A battle is brewing in Quebec over a proposed language regulation that might power school college students to take three core programs in French.

Anglophone teams say Invoice 96 would make many college students fail and probably drive many out of the province.

“Studying French isn’t the identical than studying in French,” stated Russell Copeman, director of the Quebec English Faculty Boards Affiliation (QESBA).

The Quebec English Faculty Boards Affiliation (QESBA) together with the Quebec Neighborhood Teams Community (QCGN), the English Mother and father Committee Affiliation (EPCA) and the Quebec Federation of Residence Colleges Affiliation (QFHSA) say they’ve “no different possibility however to struggle for the whole rollback of this measure.”

Dan Spector seems on the rising push-back because the laws nears adoption.

Politicians are elected to create jobs and ameliorate living standards but in Quebec, they are elected to make life harder and miserable for newcomers and people from different religion backgrounds.
If these weird laws doesn’t stop, I can expect that the Qc government will force people to install cameras in their homes at there own charge to check if they speak (bien) Quebecois.
These Qc laws and bills are so bizarre that they look like the Just for Laugh Gags, the only difference is: the gags have happy end but the laws haven’t.

Canada needs restructuring. Follow Quebecs lead. Each province should have its own constitution, pension plan, police force, language and education laws, etc. The federal powers of taxation need to be severely limited. Then Quebec will be relevant only in Quebec. Canada in its current form is not worth salvaging.

The whole World's 99.99% (speak/writes basic) English and other people speak more than 4-5 different languange/s. Quebec is a little percentage part of Canada and the solution is to ongoing issued between all Canadians that Quebec just need to have (exclusive rules/compliance for just within Quebec Territory.) There is no point including all Canadians to speak/write(s) or undertand French unless people leaving in France. Each Countries has got 100's of languages. However, English is main priority if the people want to work in pulic relations. THANK YOU. 🌤🌱💦💙💦🇨🇦🙏

Quebec should govern their province on their own and see how they defend themselves if Russian attack them. Leave the rest of us alone ! To report news about the language battle is nonsense.

Not to mention that in Quebec we don't even speak the same French we're taught in schools. Since the age of 5, I was learning Metropolitan French in schools (or at least the most neutral French that's shown in text books). Quebec's French is a completely different dialect that is very hard to understand, especially since pronunciation of various words are vastly different. So even after 20+ years of learning the language, I still can't understand others. Doesn't matter if you get 70% or even 100% in French courses, if you cannot understand what someone is saying then all those years were a waste.

Quebec french isn't french anyway, it's a bastardized form of the language and it's terrible. It's called Quebecois. Here's an example of this backwards language: " la la, Manger ton biftik la le ketchup la la, la."

And soe of these French-speaking politicians send their children to English-speaking schools, while trying to coerce the population into only French-speaking education, or so I learned anyway, either from the street from other Francos or from some reading. That was sometime near the end of the Pauline Marois era, she having been at some high level in the Parti Quebecois (PQ), a real …, I won't state the word, but certainly nuisance, likely also a hypocrite. I am franco since my beginnings but was born in the USA and moved to Montreal to continue high school, it all having been in English, though can professionally say, today and for many years already, that I'm bilingual. Had to take some French grammar courses during high school in Qc, wanted to take another course in Fr. in college that wasn't about grammar (not being strong with required memorization, only fine with natural memorization through routine or frequent reference), but there was a course in linguistics taught in Fr., so I took that and it was good, for there was no need to memorize grammar and I wasn't interested in taking a course in literature. I studied in what was called Pure and Applied Sciences (early 1980s) in Qc. I enjoyed that course, but not grammar. A lot of Franco. Quebecers surely wouldn't well recall the grammar much, for "crying out loud". Maybe these students in English-teaching schools should aim for courses like linguistics, I guess. With that said, I wonder what is in the minds of these Qc Franco politicians.

Quebec has always been hypocritical and self centered. They use Canada for their own gains but don't recognise themselves as one of the province's. Look at the majority of government workers in Ontario are first language french, yet it's nearly impossible for an English person to even compete for a position they are likely more qualified for! They brainwash their schools at the elementary level, does that remind you of any other counties who push their agenda? Then there are the politicians (JT) to name a few, any wonder why we are backwards and look like idiots to the world!?

This’ argument that French will disappear is a myth. The problem is that middle and working class will have not time to work and take English and this will underscore the opportunities to progress on their jobs while the upper classes not only speak French, English and other languages as well, isolating in a clever way once more the upper class from the middle and working class.
Shame on the politicians, LEGAU AND HIS GOVERNMENT.

I live in Quebec. In a primarily French speaking town. I am fluent, roughly equally so, in both French and English. I legitimately speak better French than MANY people I know who don't speak anything OTHER than French. These moronic language laws don't do diddly to "protect" French or even promote it. Anyone who raises their children not to speak both languages these days is actively hurting their future. Also, ask France how they feel about Quebec French. Our French is already trash.

A new Danish study (pre-printed in The Lancet) shows that mRNA vaccines offer no all-cause mortality benefits. Zero. Nada. So, let's list what the vaccines don't do: they don't stop infection or transmission and they don't reduce deaths. Using only RCT trial data from the pharma companies themselves, the pooled results from the mRNA vaccines show no discernible mortality benefit.

I have about zero sympathy for the anglo community. Bill 96 doesn't go far enough. CÉGEPS should be in French only, period. Name me one jurisdiction which subsidizes public education in another language than that of the majority. Arguments about low grades, economic impact, exil, etc. are bunkers and are meant to victimize anglophones who should be fully bilingual if they grew up in Québec. It's about respect, which they lack. So they should leave to the12 other provinces and territories or go to any of the 50 States.
