Already a referendum is a very very tricky instrument in a reasonably functioning democracy. So what to expect from this one when people cast a vote with a gun to their heads. It's worse than cynical.

The man is so preceptive and smart then why he couldn’t see having the Azov paramilitaries in his country, insisting on turning Ukraine into a NATO military base, making speaking Russian against the law, attacking the pro Russian regions and massacres of the pro Russian Ukrainians would lead to a devastating attack by Putin. He is either a fool who wants to fight until the last Ukrainian or that was the plan all along!
Ukraine sure can't win. Why not save people's lives and towns by surrendering. EU is dumping old weapons nobody wants. Russia will still win either way. At least sanctions could mean towns are returned to Ukraine in the future.

independence referendum is the best way to go instead of war. Western countries are always advocate this.
