Over 340 extremely expert jobs throughout the South West from Leonardo in Yeovil to RNAS Yeovilton, will probably be sustained by the supply of the subsequent stage of a Wildcat helicopter help and coaching programme.

This newest tranche, price £360m, is a part of the Wildcat Built-in Help and Coaching (WIST) programme and covers the subsequent five-year section of a 34-year MoD contract, initially signed again in 2012 and set to run till 2046.

Defence Minister Jeremy Quin stated: “Wildcat helicopters play an important position in supporting our Armed Forces by way of reconnaissance, safety and transport. I’m delighted they may proceed to obtain high-quality technical help and coaching from Leonardo UK.”

On the outbreak of the pandemic, British Military AW159 Wildcat helicopters had been deployed to help the UK Ministry of Defence’s efforts in tackling Covid-19, transporting important medical employees and gear.
